We invite you to give some of your time and efforts to help preserve the history and beauty of Glendale along with the 85 acres that it encompasses. Volunteering can be done by assisting with research of Glendale's rich history, or by donating time to help maintain the grounds through seasonal projects. Individuals, groups, and organizations are welcome to volunteer. Please contact the Glendale Cemetery office for more information about the following current projects available to volunteers.
Research of Notable Residents
The staff at Glendale is looking to research the history of many of the notable residents interred within the Glendale Cemetery. Volunteers would be asked perform research, and to submit their findings to the office staff for review. The approved information will be kept on file for educational and informational purposes, and possibly published on the website.
Grounds Enhancement
The staff at Glendale strive to keep the grounds in beautiful condition throughout the entire year. Assistance from volunteer groups with early spring projects helps get a good start on accomplishing that goal each year. Projects consist of light landscaping work. No power equipment involved, just a few hand tools that the cemetery will provide. The staff at Glendale will supervise the volunteers at all times, providing guidance and answering any questions. We are looking for groups of at least 10. Scheduling can be set up for half days (4 hours in the morning) or full days (approximately 8 hours).
Join us in this opportunity to help one of Akron's most prominent historical sites continue to provide a beautiful and tranquil landscape for all visitors. Please call the office for more information or to schedule a group for volunteer work.
